A renovation and expansion for the beloved Charlotesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad. In this design option the five-bay garage will be demolished and rebuilt three stories tall to accommodate a number of programmatic functions including 5 larger bays, kitchen, dining room, study room, TV rooms, bedrooms and dorms. The remainder of the building will be renovated. The plan was designed to minimize travel time from the most commonly occupied areas to the vehicles while also addressing issues of acoustic separation, privacy, office efficiency, and encouraging a family-like atmosphere.
